WS&A's Research Response CheckFor nearly a century, bank checks have been used as a means to secure transactions and collect data for various forms of research and user/consumer offerings. The advantages of this method are that the participant receives payment immediately. The check is more convenient and, in most cases, more cost effective than any other means of documented response. For the past 25 years, Sherman Whipple, the senior partner of Whipple, Sargent &Associates, has taken the check method to an entirely new level of effectiveness and expanded its range of applications, primarily in the market research field, but also in the areas of rebate/incentives, recruitment and list qualification. The Whipple approach is called the Research Response Check (RRC). WS&A's RRC method goes beyond the incentive and addresses every aspect of the design of the data collection instrument and procedures to maximize response to levels unattainable in any other survey method, at comparable or lower costs per completion. In addition to having produced in excess of 500 survey instruments using this method, Whipple has trained and consulted with more than 60 researchers and organizations in applying the method themselves. These companies are then capable of achieving the same results on their own. In essence it becomes a technology transfer. Most check incentive surveys conducted, today, have roots in a Whipple study. Following are some samples of RRC applications developed by WS&A:
